How often do you have to replant?
It is necessary to replant quick growing plants, as Spider plants and Cape Stock-Roses every year.
For slow growing plants, like Myrtles, Kalanchoes, small leaved Ficus or bigger older plants, replanting every 2 to 3 years is sufficient.

Some can even stay longer without repotting, e.g. Sanseveria or the similar Succulents. Palm trees also do not like to be replanted. A change of the upper soil would be enough.
